MKCE Cakes, Catering & Events
Mykiddiescakes Catering & Events CIC (MKCE) is a Manchester-based community interest company with Nigerian roots, offering custom cakes, party catering, event decoration, Alaga Iduro / Ijoko and party MC services. Its work covers everything from a child's first birthday to a full traditional wedding. The website presents each service on its own page, backed by a photo gallery, a pricing page, an about page and testimonials from past clients. Dedicated pages for six Manchester neighbourhoods, Moss Side, Levenshulme, Miles Platting, Longsight, Ardwick and Gorton, help the business appear in local searches. The site is informational by design: there is no online ordering, and every call to action opens a WhatsApp conversation, which is how the business already takes bookings.

The Challenge
MKCE did a wide range of work, from wedding cakes and Nigerian party food to hall decoration and traditional ceremony hosting, but customers were discovering it mostly through social media and word of mouth. There was no single place that explained what the business offered, showed the quality of its work or gave a sense of pricing. Customers also needed to reach the team the way they were already used to, which meant a conversation on WhatsApp, not a checkout or a long booking form. On top of that, the brand needed to feel credible and warm to both Nigerian families and the wider Manchester community.
The Approach
I built a fast, mobile-friendly Next.js website that gives each service its own page and uses large, appetising photography to lead the experience. A shared gallery and a pricing page set expectations before a customer gets in touch, and testimonials add social proof. Every \"Book now\" and enquiry button opens WhatsApp with a pre-written message, so customers reach the team in one tap and the business keeps its existing workflow. Neighbourhood pages and descriptive metadata support local search, and the colour palette was taken from the brand's logo to keep the site consistent with the identity customers already know.
